Rebound

about

"Rebound" marks a new and somewhat experimental direction in my music. This was the first time I produced a track using Abelton Live. I loved the new sounds I could create with their expansive built in library and effects. The rhythm track has more of an electronic feel and I composed each section of the song individually first. For example, I layered the intro parts, the verse, and then the chorus, rather than playing all the instruments linearly. This created a tighter and more focused beat in each section. I recorded the vocals over the instrumental production in the traditional linear way.

The lyrics of Rebound are inspired from an introspective period in my songwriting. I wanted to write positive, but personal stories and Rebound resonates as a very hopeful and uplifting song.

I am so grateful for Sean Peuquet, of Madelife, for mixing and mastering the track. Madelife is also featuring this track on their artist showcase album release.

lyrics

Deep down I’m a little tired
Deep down I’m a little lazy
Three drinks on a Sunday
I’m a little hazy

There’s so much to do
The list just grows
As soon as I feel solid
The ground beneath me goes

I shake with the ground
Turn myself around
Figure out what I’ve found
Spring back on the rebound

I’m loose at the seams
Say I feel fine
Cannot keep running
While I feel my way blind

Inside I’m confused
Don’t show the way I feel
Just keep on pushing
And help myself to heal

I shake with the ground
Turn myself around
Figure out what I’ve found
Spring back on the rebound

A little voice in my head
Says just go back to bed
Everyday I tell that voice
Sorry, didn’t hear what you said

The ground rattles
The pieces all fly
I clean up the mess
And give it another try

I shake with the ground
Turn myself around
Figure out what I’ve found
Spring back on the rebound
Figure out what I’ve found
Spring back on the rebound
