Big Smile was the first song I wrote with this album in mind. I wanted to write songs that centered around the banjo and had a similar vibe and style to one of my earlier releases "Roll Away The Day." Fans had always told me how much they liked "Roll Away The Day," so I set out to write as many songs that had the elements of Roll Away as I could. Big Smile was my first attempt and I really liked it's folky honest feel.
