Young Love was written with Randy England and began as simply the chord progression. This song took forever to write! I played the chord progression while on tour in 2016. I remember playing it in Olympia, WA one morning outside at a fire pit while couch surfing. At this point, it still did not have lyrics. When I met my good friend Randy, in Nashville, he helped me write some lyrics about his ex-wife. The song morphed and I edited it over 6 months and finally arrived at the title Young Love, and turned the focus off of Randy's ex-wife and on to a summer fling that was so fleeting and innocent. I love this song and found it a great exercise in writing many many drafts. Some songs need room to breath and this was one of them.
